About Our Club
The Lake Monona Sailing Club came into being in 1969. It was created by a fun loving group of sailors who wanted to do a bit of racing with their sailboats. Several of the founders are still racing today. The Club is serious about racing, but it's also family oriented with many of the racing teams being spouses. (Yes, it is possible to race together and stay together.)
Annual dues are $125 per family. See the LMSC Form.pdf for more information. To ensure that your name, fleet and contact information appears in the annual directory please register by the due date indicated on the form.
Schedule
Generally, we race Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening between Memorial Day and Labor Day, plus Holiday races on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.
Parties happen throughout the season at homes of members, usually following Saturday and Holiday races. An awards banquet is held in the Fall at such places as Monona Terrace and the Elks Club which overlook Lake Monona. There is also a Spring Banquet to start off each season and have had very special guests such as Buddy Melges, the great Olympian and America's Cup skipper, and Larry Mialik, former UW and NFL football star, and now a first rate grinder in the America's Cup and other ocean racing.

A place to keep your boat on the lake!
The LMSC has two piers with spaces available for rent to members. You probably have seen the pier at Olin Park. It is visible from John Nolen Drive. The other pier is at Stonebridge Park in the Northwest corner of Lake Monona. For the price of membership and pier rental you can have a sailboat on Lake Monona for around $220 a summer. For more information about pier space availability, etc., please contact the Commodore.

C-Scow
The C-Scow is a 20’ boat with a single main sail and a crew of 2-3. About 20 C’s currently sail in the club.
Flying Scot
The Flying Scot is a 19-foot boat that is raced throughout North America. A crew of two or three will find the Scot a great boat for competition at all levels.
Multihull
The Cat fleet is an exciting way to sail, 1-2 person crews, and boats that really fly! Scoring is based on handicap ratings and elapsed time.
One Design
We have had Lightnings, Day Sailors, Melges 17 Scows and more! Scoring is based on handicap ratings and elapsed time. Any sailboat is eligible to race in this fleet.
